Meet my new girlcrush! ...
Irisa.
She lives in Defiance and she's of the Irathient people.
The year: 2046.
The situation: a Rainbow Nation's created a new world in the town of Defiance and it's an exciting, trippy place.
The new sci-fi series Defiance premieres on M-Net Series in July (date to be confirmed) and it's the very essence of Cool.
I've seen the first episodes and it's futuristically now, SO steam punk - an allegory for our time.
Another Irathient wearing the best costume to be seen on TV in eons.
The story centres round Defiance and the town's inhabitants: various beings and different races who've established the town together. It follows their conflicts, their lows, their highs, their differences, their power struggles and their battle to survive together against outside enemies who want to take them down.
Ultimately the series is about their differences, how they negotiate them and how they manage to overcome them to stand together in defiance.
Other races who live in Defiance include the Indogenes: cold, logical workaholics who are masters of logic.
Biomen: outsiders - neither human nor alien.
The lead characters: Nolan (of the human race) and Irathient Irisa.
Nolan (played by Grant Bowler) found Irisa (played by Stephanie Leonidas) many years ago and adopted her as his daughter. The pair arrive in Defiance and get swept up into the action to the extent that Nolan becomes the town's Chief Lawkeeper.
The show has the added future-is-
now factor that it's released a companion game that goes with the show.
Here are two must-see trailers ... one for the show, one for the game:
