The 2013 BET Awards took place in LA on Sunday night (30 June) and will air in a delayed broadcast on BET on TopTV on Tuesday night (2 July) at 21h00.

Please note: if you don't want to know who the winners are before watching the broadcast, please don't read on.

Kendrick Lamar who firmly sealed his star.

The ceremony was hosted by funnyman Chris Tucker who was joined by a bevy of schlebs who presented the accolades. Those who dished awards included Gabrielle Union, siren Angela Bassett and Jamie Foxx, who won the Best Actor category.

Performers included Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Ciara and Kendrick Lamar, who firmly established his star power by scoring a double win as Best New Artist and Best Male Hip Hop Artist.

Neither Toya Delazy nor Donald won the Best International Act: Africa category - the win went to Naija's Ice Prince who was nominated last year but didn't win.
