Coming up on
Carte Blanche this Sunday (4 August, 2013):
VaviThe recent rape accusation against COSATU General-Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi is just another chapter in months of dodging bullets for one of the most powerful trade unionists around. Is someone out to get him? Or is he merely a victim of his own bad decisions? Carte Blanche speaks to the man himself.
Producer: Este de Klerk
Presenter: Bongani Bingwa
Journalist: Chwayitisa Futshane
Zim ElectionThis week, while Zimbabweans decided if 89-year-old Robert Mugabe should remain in power for another term, that country’s newest and only alternative television station, based in Johannesburg, broke the shackles of 33 years of State-controlled media.
Carte Blanche finds out how social media and citizen journalists assisted in the news-gathering process.
Producer: Bernadette Maguire
Presenter: Bongani Bingwa
Journalist: Sasha Schwendenwein
Malicious Mothers It forces children to lie and breaks apart families while fathers rot in jail. Called Malicious Mother Syndrome, it’s an abnormal, but not uncommon pattern of behaviour, where a mother falsely accuses the father of her child of sexual abuse. Carte Blanche speaks to desperate fathers.
Producer: Julie Laurenz
Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender
Journalist: Sasha Schwendenwein
Foreign Accent Syndrome
Imagine waking one morning and not sounding yourself, in fact sounding like someone from an entirely different country. One day you feel sick, the next you are jabbering away in a thick foreign accent. Carte Blanche meets three women: a dinkum Australian, who can pass for a Russian, and two born and bred Brits, one with a French lilt, the other sounding Chinese.
Producer: 60 Minutes Australia
Presenter: Liam Bartlett
Carte Blanche is on M-Net on Sundays at 19h00.
