Another week, another list of 10 of the biggest tunes in Africa right now.
This week South African super-trio, Mi Casa, returns to the penthouse position after being pushed out 2 weeks ago. "Jika" climbs three positions from last week's #4 to dominate the chart for a second week. Last week's #1, "Caro" by Star Boy, drops down one place to claim the runner-up position. Also dropping down one place and in pole position is Ghana's champion rapper Sarkodie's "Illuminati". The song pushed "Jika" from the top spot 2 weeks ago.
Narrowly missing out on the bronze medal is the the Koko Master, D'Banj, who may have to do with the honour of being the hotshot debut of the week at #4 with a song appropriately titled "On Top of The World". Funnily enough this is the second time this year that a song titled "On Top of the World" reached the top 10 with the DJ Kent & Liquideep collabo reaching the top earlier this year. Speaking of Liquideep, the duo returns to the top by climbing up 6 positions from #15 to #9 with "Welcome Aboard", which is also the title of their third studio album. However it is not the same good news for the rest of the songs in the top 10 as Burna Boy's "Run My Race" drops 2 places to #5 while Goldfish's "One Million Views" dips one place to #6. Ironically "One Million Views" hasn't reached one millions views. The duo recently announced that they will be releasing another single soon and said it's their best work they've ever done. I'll take their word. Goldfish are closely followed by R2Bees and Big Nuz at #7 & #8 respectively. "Heaven" by Da L.E.S falls to #10 and might fall out of the top 10 next week.
Outside the top 10 making waves on the chart: Phyno - "Man of the Year" #32 to 23 (up 11). DJ Gayani - "Xigubu" #28 to #26 (up 2).
