A new sci-fi series called
The Tomorrow People premieres on M-Net this Friday (25 October) at 20h30 and the most interesting thing about it is a humanoid computer.
I've caught the first episode and didn't enjoy it unfortunately. It stars Arrow hottie Stephen Amell's cousin Robbie and it's co-developed by Greg Berlanti, who developed Arrow too so it feels like a carbon copy of Arrow, except not nearly as cool.
The story centres round a group of young people who have superpowers as a result of evolution and they're being hunted.
#Cue Heroes, Alphas, The 4400.
Which is the major problem with it. It's as if it's a mix-up of a bunch of different TV shows with nothing new so it's very unoriginal. Even the casting of Robbie feels forced and "done".
There is, however, one fun light at the end of the tunnel in the form of a computer called TIM, who has a mind of his own:
Listen-out for him if you watch because he's voiced by Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens who plays Matthew Crawley. Who also happens to be married to a South African in real life. Dan's wife Susie Hariet is a South African jazz-singer-turned-singing-teacher.
