Charly's Cake Angels - which used to be on SABC3 - moved to Food Network for Season 2 this year and now the channel's announced news of another local series.
In 2014 the channel will premiere a local version of the international reality cooking show Chopped. The series will remain true to the original format: four chefs are given a basket of everyday ingredients which they need to turn into a swanky three-course meal.
One chef gets chopped after each course until the final two do battle in the third and final course. The prize for each episode will be R40, 000.
Denvor Phokaners - co-presenter of
MooiLoop! on SABC2 - will be hosting and the judging panel consists of various South African cookery hotshots. The panel ingredients include: Jenny Morris, Siba Mtongana, David van Staden, Lindsay Venn and Rebecca Hurst.
There's no confirmed premiere date as yet but word from the Food Network stable is that it'll start in the second quarter of 2014.
