Muvhango flights the biggest television soapie wedding
Muvhango audiences are in for a treat as the soapie producers put their final touches to the episode that promises to be the biggest wedding South African television has ever seen. Thursday May, 29, 2014 is the date for this spectacular Thandaza and Ranthumeng wedding which, after many months of preparations, was held on the banks of the Crocodile River in Avianto nestled in Muldersdrift last month.
The European-inspired rustic village played chapel to as many as 200 cast and crew members new and old. Viewers can expect to see their ol’ time favourite Muvhango actors like, Khanyi Mbau, Lerato Zah Moloi and Phila Mazibuko, who all ululated and celebrated as the lovely couple exchanged their vows in festive view of family and friends. An unwelcome face also managed to steal a peep at the glittering event from afar, wearing a venom fuelled scowl and a coat, typically.
“The wedding which exuded warmth and opulence did not come cheap. After four months of meticulous planning, we hope to give our viewers something to remember. We went out of our way to find a suitable venue, a perfect wedding dress, entertainers, everything we thought our viewers would enjoy, “said SABC 2’s publicist Lebo Malete.
Thandaza’s journey towards the sunset with The One,has not been an easy one, what with rivals like Doobsie, Meme, Meiki, Teboho and Matshidiso having always threatened to rock the boat. Could this be “third time lucky” wedding? With nothing left to chance, it should.
As far as the producers would have it “there was something new, something old, something blue and something borrowed” that made this event a momentous occasion.
And the dashing groom? Ranthumeng’s suit complemented the bride’s magnificent dress beautifully and he was anything but an accessory. After defeating amnesia many would have expected him to cut a sorry sight but he stood tall, kissed his bride and claimed her to endless oohs and aahs from the audience as sunlight started to drain from the skies.
