Scandal! hosted their 1500 episodes shebang at Randlords in Braamfontein and mina ke I hunoured the invite in a bid to get some fresh air and some fresh air indeed I did get.
I arrive late at the venue, thanks to Joburg traffic, despite me having boarded my Gautrain in Pretoria on time. As I enter the 22nd floor of the Randlords where the whole thing is happening, Clint Brink (Tino Martins) is busy performing some tunes from his album.
He is later joined on stage by Nothende and the duo delivered a scandalous magic I tell you. I walk around during the performance and I see Kagiso Modupe (Mangi) with his beautiful wife and she is busy tugging his bums and I decide to give Kagiso’s bums a break and request to snap the couple together with Siyabonga Shibe (Kila “Mhlonishwa”) who was also there with his beautiful girlfriend.
As I walk around to see if the entire cast is in attendance or not, I notice that Dawn Matthews - who plays villainess Shakira - aint there. Then I see a very lean woman with over-the-top blonde hair and I wonder who she is. She sits at a table with her husband the whole night and I conclude she is just one of the party goers. Then to my surprise, as I do my ups and downs, I notice that she is none other than Louise Barnes who plays femme fatale Donna Hardy. It just shows it has been a while since I watched scandalous things.
Speaking of watching scandalous things, I think I will be giving Isidingo a miss or I will just get myself a PVR because Scandal! is taking scandalous things to a whole new level. We got to watch a sneak peak of what’s to come in the next three months and if what I saw last night is anything to go by, Scandal! viewership figures are set to skyrocket and grab viewers’ attention by force without being apologetic about it.
Shakira is going to break up Tino’s marriage, drug him, rape him and a lil later, we learn she is pregnant. But the paternity of her child is mystery and don’t think because she raped Tino things will be easier. “The pregnancy will hit our screens in August,” said Scandal! series producer Ilse van Hermet when talking to us about what the show has in store for viewers for the rest of 2012.
Shakira will somehow come back to the world of the sane. Without spoiling your fun, I can tell you there will be a wedding on the show and you really cannot believe that the bride is the despicable Shakira!
Then there is an issue of discrimination against albinism that is gonna be told on the show. Judging by what I saw last night, the story will be treated with integrity and thorough care. There is so much coming up your way. Maybe I should do a whole article on this (Scandal! 2012 stories) sometime next week yazi.
Some of you may or may not know that 8 March is an International Women’s Day and veteran actor Sello Maake ka-Ncube took to the stage to recite a poem in hunour of women.
Yazi my homeboi that accompanied me to the do, was so star-struck such that he wanted to tell Sello that he (Sello) comes from our village back home. Sello is an artist through and through. He threw a few jokes here and there saying when he becomes creative, the woman inside of him comes out and that no, if you doubted his sexual orientation he is not gay. “I’m lesbian,” he said, “I only do woman” and we were all in stitches.
etv Channel Head Monde Twala
Some people gave speeches including etv’s channel head Monde Twala and I remember not what he said because it wasn’t entertaining. The exec producer (Bronwyn Berry if my memory doesn’t betray me here) also spoke. She spoke about how starting from 1501 episode, viewers will notice whole new and exciting changes that can only make the series a whole lot better.
Also in attendance was C’ga Bopha - many of you may remember him very well from the controversial ekasi episode of Isitabane or some name along those lines. He is such a cool guy yazi. He is friendly, and I heard some female friend of mine commenting about his looks, also saying she can give him everything he wants. I just don’t know what more to say about him because in all honesty, I have never met such a down-to-earth person who really cares about giving journalists what they want.
As I was saying, yes, the party was great. Where was I? Uhm, yes, C’ga! No, the party. Yes, now… What did I want to write! The comperes of the party were Brighton Ngoma (Quinton) and Masasa Mbangeni (Thembeka). Thembeka was there with her mom and mina I thought that was really cool.
Yes, Brighton’s character is set to have even a more meatier role post 1500 episode and love is coming his way and soon enough, he is going to learn a lesson that we all at some point in our life learn: That a love-triangle knows no character and worse still if you and your friend are into the same girl… Kodwa if I may ask, what do you know when you and your friend are attracted to the same woman. Hopefully Scandal! will have scandalous answers for us.
Eish, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, yazi I have never heard so much delicious cake in a long time! That Scandal cake I late it la-to-come-nice. The cast was requested to cut the cake and we media people were asked to take what in photography we call “get in close to the centre of interest”.
I spotted Sandy Mokwena (Eddie) who was in attendance with his beautiful daughter. Oh Lord, yazi I nearly asked for his daughter’s number and I remembered I am also a Mokwena! Darn it! His daughter has a very pretty face, is a daddy’s girl, her legs are super and and and…eish man, I can kiss her anytime you know!
Speaking of kissing anyone anytime, yazi with all due respect, I do not mean for Lorcia Cooper (Erin)’s husband to doubt Lorcia’s commitment to their marriage. But I couldn’t help but notice that Lorcia and Clint make a match-made-in-heaven. They sat together the whole night, danced together, laughed together, and looked good together. I just wish they were a couple. Their friendship is so tight you will wish they take it further to other levels.
Bandla, Lorcia’s body is pretty cool. I really wouldn’t mind waking up next to that every morning. She is just flawless in creation and beauty. That’s what I call gorgeous right there. Before I forget, did I mention that Lorcia is gorgeous? She wore this mini black number yazi ini!? Her legs, OMG!
Yes, as I was saying, the cake…Uhmmm, Lorcia’s legs are very…sorry, I wanted to ay Joyce Skefu (Maletsatsi). Yes, as I was saying, Lorcia’s body doesn’t show she has a child. Indeed she is a choreographer turned actress. Her lips, don’t even get me started. No, I was supposed to right about the cake here. Yes, here goes, the cast sang a happy birthday song to Scandal! and we all sang along, lol.
Eish, lemme see if I can start hunting Lorca’s BBM PIN.
