Former TVSA blogger Pruluv wrote this article back in October 2010 when Intersexions first debuted on SABC1 so we thought we'd republish it today after the premiere of the repeat on SABC1 on Sunday night (20 August at 19h30).

-----

Last night saw the premiere of the new drama, ingeniously titled Intersexions.
From the title itself, one can already envision that creativity is bound to follow. The drama focuses on the epidemic of HIV and Aids, relationships and sex.

The quality of the set, decor and lighting was on point and very fresh and it has a quality cast, with big names such as Noxolo Maqashalala, Mothusi Magano, Mbali Ntuli and Class Act winner Sdumo Mtshali.

The first episode was quite captivating and it sure started the show with a BANG!!! Imagine, finding out that your previous partner has full blown Aids... finding out from the radio, on your wedding day nogal. Damn...

I foresee this drama gripping the audience very much like its predecessor Society, which made a name for itself and developed a loyal following.

I can’t wait for the next episode as this drama promises to be entertainment at its best.

Catch it on Tuesdays on SABC 1 at 20:30.

So, what are your thoughts on Intersexions?

Must say  I enjoyed it as well, enjoy seeing Noxolo..she is a good actress, just dissapointed not to see her more often on screen, wonder where she explores her creativity..

I like the story line, content and theme but I was not captivated by the acting. Some emotions were missing. The hubby didnt pull off the fist episode well for me. I liked Noxolo on that other Xhosa drama she was on but here she dont have chemistry with her hubby. But its still early days will see how it goes.

now you are talking, i think i am falling in love with tv drama again. This is informative, entertaining and matured production. Intersexion is the way to go, it talks to our daily fears and challenges. Let the fun began

I read that she was studying overseas. She is a great actress, she just has this vibe about her that I like.

This drama is reality for alot of couples out there. Most partners just toss protection aside in favour of trust and commitment - nothing wrong with that except when you do decide to do that we often forget to do like ajax and what's her name on generations. We forget that when taking a step forward we need to check our footing and make sure that step won't be our downfall.
SABC is doing a wonderful job with this drama or series or whatever you call it. We need more of this to bring this issue to the focus as those ads tsabo scrutinise and eliminate the element of what what just don't cut it for me.

I thought the first episode was brilliant technically, it has been a while since we enjoyed high quality television especially  on S1, Noxee, Noxee, Noxee I love that girl, her personality and her voice gives her characters that added edgyness.... What I dont get though is why is she always playing the same role of an HIV positive 'victim"?? anyhow.... I loved it when she said "doctor, amadoda esengike ndalala nawo mina, I can count them in one hand..." that was well delivered... lol...

Sdumo was too melodramatic for my liking....

Mbali, for a second I thought she was acting a lesbo role again... I love her to bits she is a brilliant actress...

The rest of the ppl we will see how they do as the show progress...

I must say the production technique and quality reminded me of The Lab...

i stopped watching generations ages ago but started yesterday again just to watch how Karabo is gonna go out ... went out to get something after it finished and came across this drama and i must say i was seriously impressed a lot of the things that came into play are the things that we are facing in our lives

don't  think we'll be seeing the same characters come the next few episodes @ Tizoz. if i'm not mistaken this series is about the chain of the virus so we'll probably be seeing the next "victims" of dj mo...or maybe we'll be seeing how/from who he got it...

PruLuv
13 Oct 2010 14:11

Yeah, it's great to have a drama that depicts our reality around HIV/Aids using an urban setup. It will also highlight to many (especially young people) that HIV/Aids is not a "rural disease" but affects even people living in mansions.

"doctor, amadoda esengike ndalala nawo mina, I can count them in one hand...""this line killed me kwakwakwakwakwa.

I enjoyed it...my problem is hubby dearest...eish everything about him was just wrong

ya surely it is going to be a great drama. Ya they should have made up Sdumo aka Mondli to look more frail since he has full blown AIDS.But all in all it's good

it was a great first episode but during da show i cudnt help but think how do hiv pos people and those with aids feel when watching such programmes. though its an educational programme and its good especially cause its reality i just thought yo it must be hard for them to watch especially those who are victims (infected by others) of this dreadful disease

Aids ayineclever shem!still wana know how u politely confront someone 2yrs later who could have possibly infected you should you have not insisted on protection.i still get shivers down my spine thinking bout this.

I think my safety is my responsibility, the only person i know, and can trust is me, my self and I. This drama will be an eye opener for most naive people, its never obvious that your partner is clean. WE ARE ALL POSITIVE UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE, Be safe than being sorry

They said it would be 25 short stories when they advertised it.

PruLuv
14 Oct 2010 11:00

I also saw the "25 short stories" part. Maybe they'll expand each main character's role by showing their previous partners & their partners partners to highlight the spread of the virus.
