Survivor: Coach turns Judas on Brandon

The Idol Madness strikes again. The psychosis that always ends in a satisfying snuffing when someone's stupid enough to give away their idol.

Of course I'm thrilled that it's struck Brandon because I still have huge issues with him over how he mistreated Mikayla. I'm almost as thrilled as Albert. Talk about lucking-out, ha! There he was was being an idiot himself when next moment "Wham!" ... Brandon.

Albert got himself into his dire situation by making two bistakes (big mistakes):

1. He should never have lied and said that he hadn't spoken to Rick. It was bound to get Rick livid. He should rather have come clean and begged his forgiveness.
2. He's too much of a Survivor legend in his own mind without having the skills to back it up. He's made everyone else too conscious that he's "playing the game".

None of these mattered though. Suddenly, out of nowhere, there Brandon was cuddling up to him. In one of the most bizarre Survivor interactions ever.

The conversation between them was out of the twilight zone. One moment Albert was doomed and the next Brandon was preaching about forgiving him. It happened so quickly and without reason that I felt I'd missed out on something.

I thought I'd missed something special that Albert had said or something. But nope, all he did was a bit of groveling and that was it. It made no sense at all. Brandon didn't even give a thought as to who would get voted out instead. Daddy's not gonna be too happy is he?

Of course at the time, Brandon was convinced that Roach was on his side because of how he's turned Christian and everything. I've been meaning to say ... I wish someone would confront Roach about the fact that he used to be into Eastern philosophy and religion and stuff and now suddenly he's turned Christian.

A Christian who betrayed his Christian brother by staying true to the dating coach instead. Not so honourable then.

Not that I care because Brandon needed to go and if it took Coach's lack of honour to save Albert, then so be it. All hope has now come down to Albert and Sophie. Despite the fact that they're sworn enemies I'm on both of their sides equally because a win by one of them means that neither Rick, Ozzy, Brandon nor Coach will take the title. They all suck so Sophie and Albert are it.

I choose to believe that Sophie's only using Coach and doesn't genuinely like him. Her strategy-talk's hott and I really like how independent she is. Albert's proving he has loser tendencies but at least he's tried. He's made an effort to shake things up and for that, I commend him. I don't believe that he's religious - do you? I'm convinced it's an act.

It's going to be intriguing to see how things play out in next week's finale. Ideally Sophie and Albert will unite through Coach seeing as they're both so "tight" with him. Then, when they get to the final 3, they betray him for each other. Bring it on!

While we wait ... here's what Edna got up to when she reached Ponderosa:

Yeah wanted to klap Brandon through most of this season and then he goes and klaps himself heheh. Really bizarre/eerie behaviour indeed - I got Benry-Jacob vibes ala an episode of Lost.

While I think sending Brandon to Redemption Island is a good move as he'll have a good chance of beating Ozzy, part of the reasoning behind sending him was that he's going to be a danger when up against the jury, which I don't see.  He might pick up an odd vote, but I don't think he's done enough to win nor have any of the others done enough to alienate jurors.  In fact, I think he's more beatable than all of the others except for Rick, who is never going to win because he hasn't done anything except be lucky enough to join the right alliance at the very beginning.

And why did SABC3 run a promo of Survivor right before the episode started that had a clip of Brandon stating that he was going to give up immunity?  Not the biggest spoiler ever, as he started talking about giving it up almost as soon as he was back at camp, but a spoiler nonetheless.

Yes Cit did not get the logic that Brandon was a threat at Final TC. I think Coach was maybe equating him with the likes of JT (Tocantins) - i.e. some people may view Brandon as corn fed Godly wholesomeness - but that not is the case here. At the end of the day Coach had a vendetta for being bullied by Hantz Snr. last week.
I hope Sophie wins.

so next week is the Final - any idea what happens the week after

>>so next week is the Final - any idea what happens the week after<<

The SABC TV guide has The Amazing Race S19 listed for that week.

Yes, TAR 19 takes over - except there's a week's break in between because of the World Cup - they've adjusted the schedules for it. There's a game on on Monday, 23 June so TAR starts on the 30th.

Having a good giggle at your Benry-Jacob analogy wonderlad - too true. I'm still lost when it comes to that show you know - I can never remember how it ended.

Do you also think that Albert's religious streak is a complete act? Interested to know if anyone else thinks so.

Tash, I don't think it is necessarily an act - Albert may have religious conviction, but yes his zealousness may be an act to fot in with the rest of Roach's cult.
