South African comedian and actor Cokey Falkow has one of the juiciest roles on TV. Not a leading role but the sort of guest role many actors would kill for.
Cokey plays a butcher-esque German drug dealer on Matador, a new series on Robert Rodriguez's network El Rey. I've seen his scenes and he's brilliant - made me realise that he's a much better actor than comedian!
Robert Rodriguez looking hott on the set of Dusk Til Dawn: The Series.
In case you haven't heard of El Rey ... Robert Rodriguez launched it last year. It's a network that caters specifically to Latino audiences - and Rodriguez fans because it has loads of similarities to his movies. Matador's the second original series made by the network - the first was Dusk Til Dawn: The Series which re-tells the movie but with added extra scenes, plotlines etc.
The action of Matador centres round DEA agent Tony Bravo (Gabriel Luna, pictured above) who gets drawn into a CIA sting. He goes undercover as a soccer player so he can spy on the team's corrupt boss and becomes so popular he earns the nickname Matador.
As the series begins, Tony meets Cokey Falkow who plays Al Aleman, a deadly drug dealer with an Eastern European accent who enjoys chopping up meat and people ...
Hopefully we'll see the series here because it looks like a must-see - very Rodriguez. He's one of six producers on the show and wrote the first episode so Cokey speaks his words. More grabs of Cokey in action:
