EXPRESSO CELEBRATES 1000 EPISODES
From its humble beginnings on 4 October 2010,
Expresso has had a stellar run of waking South Africa up to feel good mornings. With its mix of celebrities, health, food, decor and great entertainment, the show has built a strong following.
On 19 September 2014,
Expresso reaches a new milestone as it broadcasts its 1000th episode. Only Katlego Maboe and Ewan Strydom have been with the show since its inception and as, Strydom put it, "We've had 1000 feel good mornings!"
Maboe says the show has changed his life for the better in many ways. "
Expresso has become a special home to me and we've become part of people's families. It's quite something to know that we are part of a team that did groundbreaking work reintroducing lifestyle entertainment to the morning. It's fantastic to bring this show to people every day and to do it with such a diverse team is an honour. We truly are a good representation of our rainbow nation."
As for Strydom, he says being part of the show has meant more than most could imagine. "
Expresso was a complete blessing in disguise for me and for my family. It literally kick-started my life and it has been an incredible experience to bring joy and valuable information into people's homes every morning. I am very proud of the team who has worked so hard to bring these feel good mornings to South Africa."
It is fitting that this achievement falls in Heritage Month as
Expresso has always had a strong focus on being proudly South African; supporting local artists, designers, experts and organisations who make us all feel good. The celebration episode will up the ante with loads of novel ideas for the braai as part of
Expresso's build-up to Heritage Day.
And there's a special thank you for a loyal
Expresso fan. One lucky viewer will win a weekend in Cape Town which includes a visit to the
Expresso studio for the live broadcast of episode 1000. They will get to meet the presenters, enjoy the dishes created by the resident chefs and even get a selfie or two with the real stars of the show, Bob and Bella.
The proof is indeed in the pudding for
Expresso as its four years on air and its 1000 episode milestone are a testament that quality programming can and will endure in the hearts and eyes of the viewers. SABC3 is proud to be
Expresso's home and continues to support the show in its endeavour to bring positivity and a smile to the face of the nation every week day.
Aisha Mohamed, Head of Bouquet: SABC3 speaks highly of one of the channel's flagship shows. "There's nothing like
Expresso on local television and its ability to stay relevant, entertaining and informative each and every day has been a big factor in its success. It is definitely a perfect example of being able to find something for everyone on SABC3 and we congratulate the production team on this wonderful achievement."
