Survivor: Kat among the pigeons

SO pathetic I could die. Honestly ... how does one possibly begin to express the dismay at how useless the girls are on Survivor? Every single thing they did throughout the episode was a waste of life that I can't get back!

And, at the centre of it all was Kat, who should have been torched instead of Nina. Of course Alicia was at the centre of things too - my dislike for her grows more each second - but Kat was such a huge physical problem during the Immunity challenge, I don't understand how they could have kept her.

I'm sure it's going to turn out to be a big mistake because this is when they need to be winning immunity - alliances are important but if they're in a minority when they reach the merge their alliance will mean nothing. Both Chelsea and Sabrina told Jeff that they would have made different alliances if they started the game again so they should have shaken things up now.

Besides getting rid of Kat, it would have delivered such a fierce and brilliant blow to Alicia who's got waaay too much power running things. She's a mean girl and she's making the tribe the same which troubles me a lot. It's one of my worst things ever so if the tribe devolves into being mean girls only, I'll be forced to support the men - which will be very upsetting considering the crowd they've saddled us with.

Luckily things aren't at rock bottom in Salami yet because there is hope in the form of Monica, Sabrina and Chelsea. I like all three of them - they'd make a tough alliance - I just wish they'd see that. I'm wondering if Monica's thinking along those lines?

Her vote for Christina was a very good move I thought - she obviously realised there was no ways the mean girls were going to get rid of Kat so voting for Christina ensures she won't be the next to leave. It suggests a level of loyalty to them even if it isn't true. It buys her time to talk. Specifically to Chelsea - out of everyone she's been the one who's been prepared to listen the most.

I'm convinced they need to go this way to survive because I see Kat failing. In ways she's never failed before. Crazy what she said about never doing anything she might fail at. It can't leave her much to do!

As for the cavemen over on the other side of the beach. Whatever. None of them interest me. The only potentially interesting thing about them is that their little alliance with Colton might come in handy for the girls.

Catch my Survivor column every Monday after the episode.

Kat is dumb...and those girls who kept her...she really is a liability. The sooner they get rid of her the better and it is too soon for the girls to be loyal to an alliance at this stage of the game. I can't wait to see their next stupid move

I don't think Kat should have been voted out purely on the basis of her poor performance on one challenge.  It's a rather harsh way of doing things and possibly a bit unfair.

I would say it's a bit like being on a sports team - I don't think you should drop someone just because they had a bad game as people do have off days.  But if they have a string of bad games then by all means kick them to the curb.

So while Kat may have messed up on this challenge, there's always the possibility that she could do well on one that requires more of a group effort than an individual one.  And if the women feel that she has the potential to do better in future challenges than Nina, then maybe it was the right decision to keep her around.

That's not to say there weren't other reasons to vote Kat of as it does seem that she was getting on the nerves of the other women.  Despite, it does still seem like she could be less of a disruptive influence on the tribe than Nina, so that could be another reason why they went the way they did.

The challenges won't be purely physical as that would be hugely unfair given the disparity in strength between men and women, so they're probably going to involve quite a bit of teamwork.  For that reason, you would want to keep around someone who's going to work well as part of a team rather than someone who might not, which could have also worked in Kat's favour.

But it's still too early to say whether it was the right decision or not.  It could be what the women need in order to turn their fortunes around, or the men could continue to dominate.

Hey Tash - didn't even realise that Survivor was back on until I saw this blog. Had to catch up on the 1st episode online (thankfully spoiler free). Caught the rebroadcast yesterday on episode 2. My pvr still said that it's TAR tonight (Monday) on sABC3.

Anyway - yes the women are embarassing. Kat should have gone. I hope they mix the teams up sooner. I really like that exNFL wife lady and hope she sticks around.
The fratboy team and Tarzan are annoying, but so is Colton <Get a Grip Gurrl>. Still I hope he manages to do some damage with the HII before he gets voted off (which he will).
