AfricaMagic's picking up on the telenovela theme with a new Nigerian telenovela called Hotel Majestic.

The news was announced at the M-Net Upfronts on Wednesday by regional director for M-Net in West Africa Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu. TVSA spoke to her after the announcement and she told us that it's a murder mystery - set at a hotel as the name suggests.

It's a 260-episode series that follows the telenovela format and will air five days a week, after Tinsel on AfricaMagic Showcase (Channel 150).

Names attached to the project include Nigerian TV stalwart Sadiq Daba and actress Ivie Okujaye, who won the Best Young Actor award at the 2012 Africa Movie Academy Awards. She went on to win the Trailblazer Award at the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards.

The series is in production and doing their first photo-shoots as we speak.
