Tweedledumb and Tweedledee
Bwa! Jay has to go down as one of the biggest suckers in Survivor history. It's impossible to understand how he could have been so confident in his alliance with the girls and yet there he was, giving up immunity for chicken wings and beer - which, as Chelsea mentioned - he doesn't even drink.
Despite the fact that he's a schmodel, I don't see how he could be so thick that he didn't know he was in danger. I reckon he was 100% blinded by a crush on Chelsea and that it influenced everything he did. He never mentioned a crush but you could see. Not only did he believe her when she said their previous alliance was still in tact - but he wanted to believe her.
When he spoke to Troyzan about the Salani alliance - he had no doubt the girls would be loyal and I'm sure it was because of Chelsea. And she knew it which is why she had those moments when she wavered out of guilt.
Jay wanted the chicken wings but his stepping out of the challenge also meant that Chelsea won it. I don't think he did it deliberately so she could win - I think it happened unconsciously - his unspoken crush defeating his need to win. The bizarre thing was that he didn't seem to mind when he was voted out or betrayed - it was as if he'd silently given Chelsea permission to do whatever she wanted to him. Poor thing!
My best was when Chelsea spoke about dishonesty during Tribal Council, when she said:
As much as this game ... we've all watched it and we know that people are dishonest but there comes a point where you really have to go with your gut and just really hope that people are being honest with you and just look them in the eyes and just tell them how you feel and hope they're being honest when they respond - that's all you can do.
So true isn't it? It's exactly like life too. How do you
know for sure? Jay thought he did and yet he was so wrong. I don't see him holding it against Chelsea though - reckon she handled things sensitively and that he likes her too much.
