It's been on a loop of repeats this year and now a new season's in the pipeline. SABC1 has placed a second season order for Tempy Pushas for a 2015 premiere.
The series first debuted on the channel in February 2013 and centres round the fashion industry and the realities behind it. It follows three childhood friends who have to negotiate a world divided by those-who-have and those-who-don't and stars Sdumo Mtshali, Pallance Dladla and Akhumzi Jezile.
Season 1 aired on Friday nights between February and August last year - usually a death knell night for shows but not for the Pushas. It achieved notably high
ratings for it's timeslot and was consistently one of the Top 5 dramas in the country while it was on.
It debuted with 3,300,000 viewers and went on to attract almost five million viewers on some nights. It was also a notable contender at this year's SAFTAs with nods in four categories and two wins.
Directors Libby Dougherty and Tebogo Malope won Best Director of a TV Drama jointly and Akhumzi Jezile won Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama for his role as Ngulube.
The new season's being produced by Endemol - who did Season 1 too - and additional cast are being auditioned as we speak.
It premieres on Friday, 13 February 2015 at 20h30.
Flash Pusha fact: the show was first going to be called Fashionistas and then Hustle & Mawaza before it became Tempy Pushas.
