What did Mfundi Vundla teach us in 2014? That human beings don’t like change. That you shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you. That democracy doesn’t work in every situation; you can live in a democratic country and exercise your democratic right and still get fired. I have tracked down some of the 16 cast and you know what, they have picked themselves up.
The reason we all booed Ekasi Generations on that first week of December was to show moral support. Regardless of whether Mfundi would’ve hired a better cast or hired a better scriptwriter, we would’ve just booed Mfundi off our screen. Also, that’s what we are good at on social media.
I feel my crocodile tears falling-off my face and feeling like the biggest Judas as I say “Ekasi Generations has rubbed off on me”. It’s now Generations Legacy. Look there are still those awful actors, like Namhla but the story line has picked up and I’m slowly having amnesia of the 16. I still feel like Mfundi Mvundla is scum, but he’s a smart scum. The 16 have taught him a lesson that he won’t forget and now the likes of Namhla and Tshidi are bearing the fruits.
Karabo, Tau, Lucy, Mazwi, these are seasonal actors that have done a great job of saving the sinking Mfundi Vundla. So, to the 16, I apologise for betraying the clan. But we can still have meetings on Saturdays and strategize on how we’ll get Mfundi Vundla back, it’s fun and I like being a part of a village/community, so please don’t write me off.
