Breaking news!
It's happened.
Uzalo has officially replaced Generations as the most watched show in South Africa - a title Gen has steadfastly held for a decade (at least!).
TVSA has been
covering the TAMS since 2006 and Gen has consistently remained the number one show each week so this turn of events is extremely notable.
The dramatic takeover happened in the week of
8 to 14 June when Uzalo raked in the numbers by outperforming Gen on two nights of the week: on Tuesday, 9
th and Wednesday, 10
th June.
It was the first time Uzalo has beaten Gen on any night of week and the double whammy turned its average for the week into a Gen bomb.
Here's a look at the nightly figures:

Interesting to note is that the takeover occurred in the same week that Gen introduced the BDSM storyline that
caused controversy among viewers. Was this the cause of it?
Past and present numbers suggest it isn't. It seems it had much more to do with Uzalo's increasing reach, which has gone from strength to strength since its premiere in early February.
Uzalo debuted to 4,378,000 viewers. Can it maintain its grip on the Number 1 spot or will Gen blast back? We'll keep you posted.
