The M-Net City channel has only just launched and already it's undergoing changes. The early primetime schedule changes from Monday, 3 August with the introduction of two new telenovelas and a 19h00 South African slot.
The telenovela's start at 17h00 with Sparkling Girls, a Brazilian series about three housekeepers who find fame and fortune when their music goes viral. They also find themselves facing the green eye of jealousy from a rival singer (and former employer) who becomes obsessed with tearing them apart.
The second telenovela at 18h00 is Side by Side, which won the 2013 International Emmy for Best Telenovela. It's set in the early 20th century and follows two women from different backgrounds who have the same desire to find freedom in conservative times so it's very suited to a Woman's Month/August premiere.
Both shows air Mondays to Fridays and will be followed by the South African slot at 19h00 which consists of comedies, talk and game shows which have aired on M-Net. This is the nightly line-up:
Mondays:
Tonight with Trevor Noah
Tuesdays:
The Coconuts
Wednesdays:
Clipz
Thursdays: Check Coast. A comedy that follows the lives of the staff at a local Home Affairs office.
Fridays:
Deal or No Deal
The channel's also introducing a dedicated, late night Game of Thrones slot at 23h00 for a full run of the series. Seasons 1 to 5 will air Mondays to Fridays, also starting from 3 August.
Other new series starting in August include NCIS: Los Angeles
Season 6 (Friday, 14 August at 21h00) and The Slap (Wednesday 19 August at 22:00). (See the tags below for more about each of them.)
The Doctors and The Jerry Springer Show (which currently air in the telenovela times) will move to 15h00 and 16h00.
