The Idols finalists made their first public appearance at the launch of The Road last week and were like innocent lambs to the slaughter...
Seeing them on their first official outing, having their first red carpet pics taken, really highlighted how much things will change for them from now. They're going to have to contend with the pressure of viewer votes, an explosion of opinion, praise and criticism
and they're going to need to be aware of what they say, as one of them found out.
I had a chuckle because they filmed their arrival at the event... so they all had to walk in together while the cameras rolled and they had to chatter among themselves.
They did a couple of takes of this and next thing the director called them over and asked them not to talk to each other properly. He asked them to murmur instead so that audiences wouldn't be able to hear their convo properly.
Turns out one of them had said (loudly): "I hope there are hott chicks here tonight!"
The director didn't want this heard in the scene - which was a pity I thought. It was sweet. So innocent in the face of the upcoming battle that awaits them.
