Special Notes

It's the first time in South African broadcast history that two shows have averaged more than 7-million viewers each in the same week.

Interestingly, Generations beat Uzalo on Monday and Tuesday, 17 and 18 August - the first time in a while that it's beaten Uzalo.

The figures for each night were as follows:

  Monday, 17 August 2015 Tuesday, 18 August 2015
Uzalo 7,308,000 7,209,000
Generations 7,407,000 7,308,000

Uzalo topped Gen on the Wednesday (7,472,000 to 7,308,000). This means that over the course of those three nights, Generations beat Uzalo - the other two days of the week dragged Gen's overall average down, meaning Uzalo still sits at No. 1.

The It's Complicated repeat started on Mzansi Magic on Sunday 23 August at 21h00, getting the exact same viewership figure (329,000) as the premiere of Win a Home 2 on SABC3, on Friday at 19h30.

Channels in this post: SABC1, SABC2, SABC3, e.tv, M-Net, Mzansi Magic

My heart gets sooo sore when I look at the show with the most ratings and its not Generations..

08 Sep 2015 17:24

Generations finally reaches 7million viewers wow .so the fact that uzalo only plays for three days is an advantage for them .

The people at sabc 3 are waiting for isidingo to have less than 500 000 viewers for them to change the timeslot .cz this numbers are shocking .I see umlilo is failing to make the top ten on etv .its really shocking cz I find umlilo better than gold diggers

Very interesting indeed. Good to see Gen back on that 7 million mark, but I dont think it will maintain it by week 35

08 Sep 2015 20:24

wow generations deserve nmber1 spot and I think it will do way better than the old generations...isidingo is failing and all time slots are already taken cz it cnt compete with scandal @19:30&skeem saam @18:30

08 Sep 2015 21:58

@qavile it can take the 18h00 o'clock spot .look at the bold its doing well de .lol maybe I am the only one that loves isidingo

@max I use to like isidingo back then until they introduced the sibeko's...I wonder why people still taking their project to dst channels cz they fail there...people got dstv's bt they mostly watch sabc1,23&e.tv

HIGH ROLLERS!! Coming nicely at half a million. Love it!!

09 Sep 2015 11:38

@qavile people take their projects to dstv cause they say sabc is too controling and they don't get to do whatever they want. This shows that Golddiggers is having a tough time against generations and mamello is doing well, maybe sabc 2 will bring us more new sotho drama at other timeslots

Hey Max85, stop making excuses for Generations failure. Let me tell you a story the 3 day slot for Uzalo is actually a disadvantage because Uzalo has 3 chances to get it ratings up while generations has 5 chances. All in all we can create an argument about avarage. Is it fair? Does it allows one to flourish at the expense of the other?

qavile
09 Sep 2015 15:59

@xolani he is not making excuses for generations ..tvsa team said uzalo got advantage since airs 3time a week...

max85
09 Sep 2015 19:14

@xolani I am not making an excuse for generations at all .the fact that gen is averaged 5 times it does take its rating down mos .I knw generation won't be number1 cz it has competition @8pm in the form of gold diggers .its a good thing for sabc1 that both uzalo and generations have high ratings .it keeps storylines competitive .I was not minimising uzalo's success
