DStv has pulled a move on Premium subscribers that can only be described as 100% Mental.
They've come up with a complicated mess as a way of promoting the Explora that discriminates against all Premium subscribers who have other PVRs.
If you're an Explora subscriber, there's good news ahead and if you're not, there's bad news.
The Explora has always had the advantage of featuring additional shows on Catch Up because of the increased space on the hard drive BUT the latest new development means that Premium subscribers who don't have an Explora will see selected shows much, much later than those who do.
In other words, DStv is discriminating against subscribers based on their hardware, despite the fact that PVR and Explora subscribers pay the same fee for the
same bouquet.
Hang onto your hard drive for what's coming next because it's extremely complicated and annoying to process...
The situation is as follows: four new series and seasons are going to be made available on what's being called "Express to Explora": Limitless, Blue Bloods 6, Blacklist 3 and Code Black.
Each of these are going to air on M-Net on the Explora
only, shortly after they premiere in the US.
They're going to air at 02h00, starting on these dates:
Limitless: Thursday, 24 September 2015
Blue Bloods 6: Sunday, 27 September 2015
Code Black: Friday, 2 October 2015
Blacklist 3: Saturday, 3 October 2015
Each episode will be added to Catch Up once it's aired - also on the Explora only.
Which means that subscribers who don't have an Explora will only see these shows
months later.
Each of these four shows will air on M-Net next year from the following dates, for
all Premium subscribers:
Code Black: Monday, 11 January 2016
Blue Bloods 6: Thursday, 14 January 2016
Limitless: Wednesday, 23 March 2016
Blacklist 3: Tuesday, 3 May 2016
So non-Explora viewers will only see the Blacklist a whopping
seven months later!
It also creates a nasty situation for Explora viewers because once these shows start on M-Net they're going to have to suffer more repeats because they will have seen them all months ago already.
As you can see, it's an absolutely mental and manipulative set-up that doesn't look out for viewers at
all. It's clearly a low blow attempt to force all subscribers into getting an Explora and it's penalising them if they don't.
