Special Notes

Uzalo hit a record rating for the series this week, on Tuesday 22 September, when it struck a TVR of 25 for the first time. It scored a TVR of 25.1 which translates to 8,444,000 viewers.

This was the teaser for the night:

Maphindi threatens to fight for Amandla’s custody. Mkhonto taunts Mabuza about their botched case. Ayanda gives Nombuso an ultimatum; it’s either him or Mxolisi. Nombuso gets life-changing news.

On Wednesday 23 September 7de Laan and Muvhango on SABC2 both suffered a big drop in ratings as a result of being moved later to accommodate World Cup rugby. This affected the average numbers for both shows in Week 39.

Uzalo is getting stronger and stronger

The Road is doing poorly and hence I doubt Mzansi magic will make season 2. I thought it would do as well as season 1 of Isibaya. Given the rapid rise of Uzalo, SABC1 will definately make season 2 as a soap opera. Generations seems it has returned to the figures of the original series of over 7 million.

Its official SABC 1 is the biggest channels in SA from uzalo, generations .skeem saam ,shuga ,end game .selimathunzi ,the news all ratings gold .the people in that channel need to be applauded cz they do their jobs well .congratulations 2 Uzalo for getting to 8 million .sabc must hurry and seal the deal for season 2 of uzalo .

The ratings for the road shows that the south african viewer can not be easily swayed .people have refused to leave scandal on etv for the road .I am sure mzansi magic is very disappointed with this failure

So can we officially name etv the second biggest channel in SA?

I'm also starting to lose interest with The Road.  It is fast losing the momentum that it started with.  Both the Kofifi story and the 2015 Jozi story are becoming stagnant, such a pity.  I will marathon watch this week's episodes over the weekend and if theres still no change then I will give up on The Road officially.

I also gave up on Gold Diggers a few weeks back, there was just no development on the story.

Things are not looking good for Sewende Laan and The Road. I like the 50's vibe that The Road offers, but I don't know if this back- and - forth movement between the past and present will work. We'll have to wait and see if the ratings will improve or it might turn into Zabalaza Part 2. As for Sewende Laan, it's becoming a sinking ship. The stories just do not resonate with the audience. They need to get advice from the writers of Skeem Saam.
