So Matt's been booted off Survivor and I don't care. I honestly didn't have any feelings for him whatsoever. His beard grossed me out and that's it. He served no purpose and had no power, much like most of the others.
The tribe shuffle highlighted the stark reality that there are only two solid alliances that exist at this stage of the game: Dawn and Cochran on Bikal and Reynold and Eddie on Gota.
The new tribes are:
Bikal
Phillip
Corinne
Cochran
Dawn
Michael
Matt
Julia
Gota
Andrea
Sherri
Eddie
Reynold
Brenda
Malcolm
Erik
The shuffle was perfectly timed and revealed important things, specifically:
1. Eddie's obsession with age and what he perceives as physical attractiveness has reached the point of the obscene and he Needs To Go. He's officially one of my worst Survivor contestants EVER. I'm very iffy about the fact that him and Reynold are on the same tribe and that handshake we saw between him and Malcom in the trailer for next week... it better be a ploy by Malcolm - I'll be crushed if it isn't.
2. Corinne might have potential to be supported but I have doubts. I've never been mad about her - always found her annoying - but I was very impressed with how much she loathes Mel Gibson. She sees the utter evil in him and would obviously never watch anything with him in it. I'm the same. I can never understand it when any channel airs one of his movies because I believe everyone should boycott him.
I am concerned about how she went on about wanting to play with gay people though. I know it was a joke but it felt very contrived - as if she wanted a response from it - which keeps me wary of her.
3. Julia's beyond ridiculous - a
total space cadet - but this doesn't make it okay for Phillip to call her "the girl". It was unbelievably sexist because he definitely wasn't joking and would never call a similarly invisible guy "the boy".
4. Speaking of invisibility... the shuffle sparked Erik's first words. His dissing of Reynold was music to my ears.
5. Sherri revealed that she should have been on the Favourites tribe from the start. She looks so familiar - as if she could have played Survivor before - and I'm very pleased to see that there's a potential new future for her.
