Bassie Kumalo, who
joined the Miss SA judging panel for the time this year, had a nasty fall yesterday and won't be part of Saturday's pageant unfortunately.
It happened at her son's school - she was at the school to watch him in a concert and tripped in the rain when she was leaving.
She broke her ankle but it wasn't a normal break because she's had to have surgery for it. She's in hospital as we speak so she's out of the action completely. Word from Miss SA is that they aren't replacing her. She's already done some scoring on the Top 12 so they'll be keeping these and they'll contribute to the final decision.
The moral of the story:
don't fall. I'm trying to brainwash myself into remembering this because it's hectic how quickly a fall can change everything. I took a dive at the petrol station last year and almost lost a knee because of it. Also, it's such an embarrassing thing as it happens because of how everyone madly lurches their heads to stare. The whole thing sucks.
Get better Bassie!
