The search for Miss South Africa 2017 has begun.
Entries have opened for next year's pageant which will be held in March and the key dates for the regional auditions have been confirmed.
The regionals are happenings from July this year, in seven venues. Last year they only happened in four so there are more opportunities for those in other cities and towns to be seen.
A BIG change this year: the prize. Miss South Africa will win R1-million for the first time in the history of the competition. This means that Miss SA 2017 will score themselves: the money, a car, an international holiday and other prizes that will take the overall prize to R2-million.
Finalists who make the pageant will each get R25 000.

How to enter
All auditionees need to fill in the entry form on the Miss SA website here:
Miss South Africa entries.
There's no screening process with these entries i.e. everyone who enters will be able to attend the judging sessions. You can't attend if you don't enter though.
Entries close on 27 August 2016.

What you need to take to the auditions:
- A copy of your birth certificate, ID book or passport.
- Two recent A4 colour photographs (One head and shoulders, one full length) dressed appropriately. - Please note: these photographs will not be returned.
- A copy your matric certificate.
- Only one entry form per contestant can be submitted.
Miss South Africa selection criteria
All Miss SA applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old and not older than 27 years in February 2017.
- Be a South African citizen and in possession of a valid South African ID document or passport.
- Be in possession of a matric certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Not be married and never have had a marriage annulled.
- Not be engaged.
- Never been pregnant, never have given birth and not be pregnant.
- Not have any visible tattoos.
- Have no criminal record.
Miss South Africa rules:
- Rules of the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants are applicable to all Miss SA entrants.
- The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Non-disclosure of any information that is pertinent to entering Miss SA will lead to disqualification i.e. criminal record/dethroning etc.
- All Miss SA finalists will be required to perform a limited number of engagements. She will therefore not be eligible to enter another national competition except with the written permission from the organisers.
- Finalists will be contracted to Sun International from 01 December 2016 to 31 March 2017.
- The new Miss SA will remain contracted to Sun International to perform community related projects for two years after the completion of her reign, subject to a maximum of 12 days per year.
