Survivor finale: It's third time lucky for Tyson

What a rollercoaster!! Crammed with hope, crushing disappointment, tears and... eventual, difficult acceptance.

My sweet, favourite Ciera might not have won Survivor but she came out a shero, looking super in that blue and white retro dress and Do.

The moment she lost the immunity challenge I knew I had to seriously manage my expectations if I wanted to make it out of the finale alive. I was forced to accept that she was so close to victory and yet there was too much against her because she too fab for everyone.

Unlike Monica, Gervase and Tyson, who knew it. I spent about 15 minutes sulking after Ciera left, iffy about the three of them and then Tribal Council hit and things turned weird because I found myself conflicted about who deserved to win.

I've always assumed that my worst case scenario vote would go to Tyson but Monica turned out to be highly convincing. For the first time I understood her and the fact that she's fuming at Brad. She's livid at him! And she's bottling it up because she totally changed her story in the Reunion Show when she was plastered to him.

I had moments of thinking that the jury might actually vote for her but when they didn't, it became clear that there was just something alienating about her that everyone couldn't connect with - everyone except Vytas.

It was the opposite with Tyson though, especially because he showed a different side to him this season, including an affinity for a blow dry. Brrrrrrrrr. It was the first time that we got to know him properly and he came across as suitably self aware at the final Tribal, which was revealed through his apology to Katie.

Ultimately he deserved to win. Not more than Ciera Obviously but after her. Thankfully she did win something concrete though: a second chance. Yip!!

She's gonna be back to play again in a future season - in three seasons time, in Cambodia. The season was cast by the public for the first time ever. People had to vote online for who they wanted to see again and Ciera was a fave.

Of course we aren't going to see the season on TV unless another broadcaster picks it up now that SABC3's ripped it away from us. I've been snooping for info on who's going to pick it up for us and will keep you posted if I hear anything. I'll definitely be finding a way of watching though - there's no ways I'm gonna stop because the SABC says I must. #SaveSurvivor

As for what's become of Tyson... turns out he went on to another reality show with Rachel - a series terrifyingly called: Marriage BootCamp Reality Stars 2 (ha). He proposed to her on the show and in March 2015 he confirmed that they tied the knot afterwards. The ceremony had a full-on reality theme - it was performed by Tyson's Survivor: Tocantins pal Stephen Fishbach:

They had a baby in June last year. Reality baby name: Bergen Rose.

100% Rigged for Tyson

The story starts back in S19 when survivor got its biggest name in many many years. Knowing they had TV gold on their hands they turned S19 into a hype machine for Hantz's return for S20. It became clear that Boston Rob had outplayed Hantz and while CBS loved Rob nobody was bigger than the Hantz for ratings at the time. As producers always know who is voting for who going into TC they talked Tyson into changing his vote to keep their biggest money maker in the game. In exchange he was promised another season with everything set up for his win. While Rob was not in on the fix to keep Hantz in the game CBS also gave him a win a year later to make up for screwing him over in HvV. This is why Tyson was so upset with CBS on RHAP and talked mad *bleep!* about them. He knew they owed him a million and nothing he said would change that fact. He just wanted that money sooner than later. Now comes S27 and Tyson tells CBS its time to pay up for his "stupid" move in HvV that made no sense to anyone including Tyson. Same reason Tyson has never been able to explain that move because he cant come out and say they are giving me a million in a few years to do this now. From 2 "random" draws with the buffs and rocks where he gets to pick last and it just works out for him. Anyone see the extended TC on youtube when they get to decide who picks last? Yup Tyson says right away he will pick last. Then on to the 2 HII they gave him. Funny he finds one under ground that had been looked over by everyone. Uses it and still gets a new one hours later. Good on Tyson though. Enjoy that million. You helped make HvV an exciting season and earned it by looking like the dumbest player ever for a few years. Lesson for all players. Help make good TV and do what CBS tells ya and get payed later.

I was disapointed when Ciera got voted out, she would have given Tyson a good run for the money. Beautiful finale, Tyson played the game well and of the 3 was the most deserving. I crninged at the last challenge, i wonder what would have happened had he not won immunity

I really enjoyed this season, a deserved victory for Tyson. I read with sadness that Caleb passed on in June 2014 :-(

I really thought Monica had it in the bag for a while there. (that college pic of the Culpeppers was hysterical). Yes sad about Caleb and Tina/Katie's loss - how tragic.
Thanks Tashi for another season of recaps and gossip. Hopefully we will get to see it on etv or somewhere. Looking forward to seeing Ciera again - though next time she won't be underestimated.

Yay...my favourite won, I was rooting for Tyson and when he won the final immunity challenge I knew that it was in the bag. I hope etv adds Survivor in their schedule... I can't do without my favourite show
