Emergency services have been on high alert this week as extreme weather conditions have wreaked havoc across the country. KwaZulu-Natal has seen roads closed due to heavy snowfall and communities affected by widespread flooding.
Meanwhile tornadoes have touched down in Gauteng and torn apart areas of Magaliesburg and Thembisa, injuring people and causing damage to a mall and hospital. Carte Blanche asks: What is driving this extreme winter weather system?

Online Suicide Alert
We live in a world where more and more people - particularly teens - feel safe expressing their darkest emotions online. And, with 23 completed suicides taking place in South Africa every day, there is an increase in posts about self-harm and suicide.
