2016 MTV Africa Music Awards nominees: Part 1

The MTV Africa Music Awards are taking double the time with the nominee announcement this year by revealing the nominees in two parts.

The first nominees were announced in Joziburg on Wednesday night (21 September) and the second crowd are only going to be announced on 2 October.

The first nominees are:

Black Coffee (South Africa)
Diamond (Tanzania)
Patoranking (Nigeria)
Wizkid (Nigeria)
 
The ceremony takes place on Saturday, 22 October at the Ticketpro Dome in Joziburg and will be hosted by Trevor Noah.
