SABC1 narrowly dodges a bullet this week with the latest Zaziwa developments.
As reported on TVSA in August, Zaziwa was scheduled to change times this week, from 19h30 to 21h00 on Thursdays.
If you freaked out about the change, you can breathe a sigh of relief because the decision has been reversed, saving Zaziwa from a desperate ratings battle against Muvhango and Mzansi Magic's The Queen at 21h00. The latest schedules we received state that it's airing at 21h00 but SABC1 has confirmed to us that it will remain in its 19h30 timeslot.
The original decision to reschedule it was made to accommodate a new dance reality show Street Cred. It would have been a travesty for a random new show to oust Zaziwa when Zaziwa has spent years building its early primetime reach to over 4.5 million viewers.
Street Cred has now been rescheduled to 18h00 on Thursdays instead and is supposed to start this week (13 October 2016.) Whether or not it does remains to be seen.
The fact that Zaziwa was originally rescheduled and the handling of
Friday's Tempy Pushas premiere reveals that SABC1's scheduling department is barely keeping it together. Season 3 of Pushas was scheduled and confirmed to start this past Friday (7 October) but it turned out to be a no-show when Shuga continued instead.
Tempy Pushas has been provisionally rescheduled to start on Friday, 28 October. This is Tempy-orary though because it might change again. We'll keep you posted if it does.
