The SABC has pulled an all-time low with a latest scheduling change that disrespects everyone involved, most notably loyal viewers.
Wait until you hear this madness... High Rollers has been yanked from its signature timeslot on SABC3 at 19h30 tonight (11 October) so that Generations can air instead. The international friendly soccer game between Bafana and Ghana will be airing during Generations on SABC1 so instead of Gen airing afterwards, the SABC's hijacking High Rollers for it.
Believe it!
It's the first time in the history of our coverage of TV that the SABC has hijacked one of its soapies like this. It's the first but not the last. It's a new policy because it happens again on Tuesday, 15 November.
It's
such a smack in the face for High Rollers fans who are going to tune in to find their show has suddenly disappeared. It's also highly disrespectful to Gen fans because so many will miss it.
SABC3 isn't available in many parts of the country so it's impossible for all Gen fans to watch it. Also, Scandal! airs on e.tv at the same so if a Gen fan regularly watches Scandal! too they're going to be forced to choose.
The SABC refuses to get it together to launch a dedicated sports channels and they've always taken in out on viewers and shows but this is taking it to the next level. They're also undermining High Rollers in the extreme because what kind of message does it send??
Yes, High Rollers doesn't have the high viewership ratings that Generations has, but that doesn't make it okay for High Rollers to be bullied like this. It wouldn't be okay for any show to be treated this way, by the very broadcaster who needs to be supporting it.
It's definitely
the lowest scheduling move of all time.
