These are the primetime adult television viewing figures for October 2016.

These ratings represent the Top 20 shows on the free-to-air channels for the month and the Top 30 shows on DStv.

They reflect the most popular episodes on each channel.

If you can't see the listing below, then click this link to access them in a document: Top shows on TV: October 2016

Special Notes

The ratings for Gold Diggers on e.tv on 11 October were boosted by the fact that soccer aired on SABC1 instead of Generations. Generations aired in place of High Rollers on SABC3 on the night.

Keeping Score premiered on SABC2 on Monday, 17 October which means it reached its highest episode a week after its debut (on Tuesday, 25 October).

For further explanation on the TAMS, please see: The TAMS ratings explained.

Channels in this post: SABC1, SABC2, SABC3, e.tv, Mzansi Magic

I definitely think Rhythm City would definitely get more viewers than Scandal! I mean they were basically neck- and- neck before the 19:00 time slot became super competitive. SABC 1 has News, SABC 2 has 7deLaan, SABC3 has Isidingo and etv then has Rhythm City. I applaud 7de Laan and Rhythm City for their ratings, especially Rhythm City... truly impressive. Isidingo is bleeding guys! When are they going to realise that they are losing and will continue to do so.. never mind their weak storyline. They should move the show to 18:30 to be honest. They are even beaten by Isibaya which is on pay TV and has to compete with Uzalo... I have no words mkmkmk. Congratulations to Generations: The Legacy on yet another 8 million+ despite being extremely polarizing... Truly phenomenal. SABC1 seems to be where the viewers are lol

My phone can't read a document so I can't access the ratings. I just need to know the top five free to air ratings.

@Show-Time me too I'm struggling to open the document after multiple attempts, I think TVSA must assist maybe it's server related or connection

Hi guys, everything's working on the server side so it must have to do with the browser you're using and/or how your phone's handling documents.

If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your phone, give it a try and see what happens  - it reads .pdf docs. It's available as an app. (in the app store) and on the Adobe site here: Get Adobe.
