When we heard that Cedric Anthony Fourie will be playing Skeem Saam's
hott new character Lehasa, we immediately wanted to find out more about him.
We know that he's had guest roles on Generations, isiBaya and Sokhulu & Partners but that's it, so we called him up to get the scoop.
This is what we discovered:
He's 27-years-old and was born, bred and buttered in Soweto.
He's been signed to Skeem Saam for a full time contract. It was initally a six-month contract but he's been signed for Season 6 next year so the role is his big break.
His love of acting started when he was very young and was inspired by the Hulk movies - when a human still played the Hulk.
He's also been inspired by his older cousin, who happens to be Freedom Hadebe. Growing up he would help Freedom learn his lines for his roles on Backstage and 7de Laan and would get fully into the characters whose lines he had to read.
He studied a BComm after school but only completed a year because he couldn't afford the fees. He worked as a network engineer at various companies for six years (including Huawei) and went to acting classes part-time.
Over the past four years, he's played two roles on Gen: MJ's friend William back in 2012 and martial arts fighter The Hammer on The Legacy.
He played Chris Cele on isiBaya and starred in the Mzansi Magic movie My 4/5 just sleeps on Mzansi Magic, as a two-timer who couldn't get his 4/5 up.
Landing the role of Lehasa on Skeem Saam was so perfectly timed, the show's writers couldn't have scripted it better. Cedric lost his job at Huawei when the company cut jobs and he heard that he'd landed the role on Skeem Saam on his very last day of work.
And then - they wanted him back! Huawei offered him a two-year contract but he declined to commit to Skeem Saam.
And the gym. He started gyming at school because he thought he was too skinny and now he gyms four to five times a week to stay in shape.
He wants to continue studying but isn't sure if he wants to complete his B.Comm or study something performance related.
He'll be watching his debut as Lehasa on Thursday with his grandmother and mother, the people who've supported him most.
