He's back! As someone new.
Pastor Melusi Mdletshe returns to Uzalo for
Season 3 in February next year and today TVSA can reveal that Glen Gabela has taken over the role.
Glen, who was most recently seen as Judge Mweli on Mzansi Magic's mystery drama Doubt, has been signed to the show as a lead character, which means that Pastor Mdletshe's going to be in the starring action again.
He was last seen back in Season 1 when he was played by Bheki Mkhwane who left the show under a cloud. At the time Bheki told the
Daily Sun that he'd quit the series because of "unprofessional behaviour" by other cast members and grievances over his salary.
Pastor Mdletshe fled to Swaziland as a result and he's been there ever since, working through his demons and his obsession with Gxhabashe (Mpumelelo Bhulose).
In Season 1 Pastor Mdletshe became obsessed with bringing down Muzi Xulu, to a point where he tried to kill kim. This was the turning point for him and when it was proven that he didn't kill Xulu, he couldn't face the community because of how he let them down. And now he wants redemption.
He returns because he wants to make amends by rebuilding his relationship with his family and by reigniting his church. He also wants to establish a relationship with his newly found son Mxolisi (Naymaps Maphalala) and he's aware that it isn't going to be easy so he's apologetic and prepared to do what he needs to do to regain their trust.
Pastor Mdletshe marks the third time that Glen has taken on the role of a Pastor. He played Pastor Solomon on SABC2's Hopeville and Pastor Titus on Mzansi Magic's comedy-drama Remix. He's worked in film, theatre and TV, and has had roles on Generations, Isidingo and Yizo Yizo.
