Season 15 winner Trent Harmon.
"It's over!!!" - they screamed when American Idol fizzled and died in the US in early 2016.
The series was canned by FOX after 15 seasons and people round the world breathed a sigh of relief, knowing there's only so much torture a human can take in one lifetime - especially when you combine it with the fact that nearly every country has their own version of the show too.
Things went quiet for a year and now... Season 16 looms.
American network ABC (rival to FOX) has decided that there's still enough life in it to revive it and they've bought the rights from producers FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment.
The finer details haven't been confirmed yet - the judges and host etc. They'll probs release the news about this with one announcement at a time to really draaaaaaag things out so everyone has to talk about it in stages to build the hype.
Even though it's been so overdone I have no doubt it has life left in it, espesh because of the huge success some of the winners have had after the show. The winners of The Voice haven't come close to achieving the same kind of razzmatazz that Idol winners have so it's still the show with the most successful winners.
Another drawcard for it is that people who were born in the year that the show started (2002) will be able to audition for the new season.
Will you tune in?
