The South African invasion of Hollywood continues and this time we're injecting our mojo into DC's superhero series The Flash.
Former 7de Laan star Neil Sandilands has landed a starring role on the new, fourth season as villain Clifford DeVoe, also known as The Thinker. He's a bad boy who has the fastest mind on earth.
It's a highly notable role because The Thinker takes on The Flash for the season so he's the arch rival in a battle of speed versus mind.
Neil is joined by Kim Engelbrecht, who plays The Thinker's right hand weapon, The Mechanic - a brainy engineer who designs his devices for him. The Thinker believes that humanity needs to be fixed and The Mechanic believes in his mission completely.
The news of their casting was revealed at this year's Comic-Con and was published on the tinseltown industry website
Deadline Hollywood.
Besides the thrill on being Flashy, Neil and Kim also get to experience the coolness factor of acting opposite Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn, Con Air), who's casting was announced alongside Kim and Neil's.
Danny plays Breacher, a bounty hunter who wants to stop inter-dimension travellers from threatening his planet.
These latest developments put an exclamation mark on Neil and Kim's international TV credits. Neil has had roles on NCIS, House, The 100 and The Americans and Kim had a starring role on two seasons of the supernatural action series Dominion.
In South Africa, Kim is best known for her long time role as Lolly van Onselen on SABC3's Isidingo and Neil gained his fame through his role as deli owner Bart Kruger on SABC2 soapie 7de Laan. He played Bart twice, leaving and returning before the character was killed off.
