The South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHA) are an annual Hip-Hop award ceremony honouring the best in hip hop. This year the event tooki place on 13 December at the Lyric Theatre Gold Reef City, Johannesburg.
Great achievements within the local hip hop culture were celebrated by focusing on how the past has shaped local hip hop and accolades were given to active members within the industry.
Winners receive a statue called a Pyramid, which symbolises Africans reaching for success. The show features live performances by some of the nominees and was pre-recorded for TV broadcast purposes.
Comedian Nina Hastie is the main host of the show. The theme this year is "Hip Hop Politics".
Contenders are judged on performances and achievements made between 15th September 2016 and 15th September 2017. The 32 categories are as follows:
