The festive season is upon us and it's time to tuck into a cocktail of chillaxation and entertainment.
Even if you're working, you have to escape for a bit and movies are the perfect way.
Not sure what to watch? No problemo - the Skeem Saam'ers have you covered with recommendations.
We caught up with some of the cast and asked them to share their fave fliks of all time. These are their choices and the reasons they love them... (the movie titles click through to a decription):
Vusi Leremi (Clement): Remember The Titans
“Due to the fact that it was a great storyline, and for me to love a movie there has to be some sort of sports action in it.”
Thabo Mkhabela (Leshole): The Great Debaters
“The diction and the inspirational storyline based on a true story. Not forgetting the perfect casting. I could watch it all day, everyday.”
Putla Sehlapelo (Meneer Magongwa): If Only
“It’s the last movie my brother told me about before he passed on. So for me it holds deeper sentimental value.”
Lesego Marakalla (Rachel): War Room
“It has a powerful message in it. It teaches one about patience, kindness and selflessness. It reminds one that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.”
Harriet Manamela (Meikie): The Colour Purple
“I first saw this amazing film/play while doing my first year in drama school in 1995. I grew up doubting myself, so I can relate to Celie played by Whoopi Goldberg. Her freedom meant my freedom, so whenever I cage myself in, I go back to the movie or read the book. I never understood self oppression till I saw The Colour Purple. It also has an amazing cast.”
Mogau Motlhatswi (Mapitsi): Snatch
“I love how stylized the movie is and the action in it. They deal with serious issues but have also managed to incorporate some comedy into it.”
Nolo Matlaila (Mokgadi): Set It Off
“It has all my 80s-90s favourite personalities doing their thing in the acting industry in a gangster tip. GIRLS GONE ALL GANGSTER. Girl Power.”
Buhle Maseko (Nimza): Olympus Has Fallen
“I love how they carefully planned the takeover of the White House and the action in taking the White House back. The casting of the film was amazing and it keeps you glued till the last minute of the happy ending. Mike Banning is the ultimate hero in that film.”
Kea Leburu (Bontle): The Pursuit of Happyness
“It reflects more about my grandfather. He wasn’t earning much money but made it a point that I get whatever I wanted. He was the bread winner at home and raised me to be strong and become a bread winner. I learnt a lot from him and today I am the women I am because of him.”
Makgofe Moagi (Charity): Ben Hur
“I love that film, the 1959 version. It’s a very powerful film with a great storyline that was well researched and executed. I think it is still relevant even today. When good overpowers evil. Those are the kind of films we need to see today, that no matter what, God is here for us.”
Julius Mosana (Dragon): Shaft
“Shaft has to be my favourite movie of all time. I think I have watched it 15 times.”
Dipuo Kgaphola (Sister Mokarati): Courageous
“Christian movies are often underrated. This movie primarily addresses the effects of absent fathers but at the same time promoted that only God alone is a solution to societal problems. It’s an unapologetic movie about Christianity and the power of God.”
Oratile Maitisa (Eunice): Diary Of A Mad Black Women
“Because it shows how strong a women can be, it shows how women can hold their own in this world and be in control.”
