LOL Skeem Saam and Uzalo got ZERO nominations! The Queen didn't get any important nominations, only the production ones.

Wow, Warren Masemola received three nods? Congrats! Congratulations to Mapula and Kgomotso Christopher, I hope they both snatch! Dissapointed with Hlomla Dandala not getting a nomination for his role on Scandal! Very shocked at Isidingo being shut out like this! Linda Sokhulu deserved some sort of nomination. And why only three nominees per category?? It should be extended to five, in my opinion.

LMFAO they really nominated Trevor Gumbi????? Wow!

A shame that Lockdown couldn't get acting nominations for it's stellar cast!
And what happened to the Best Ensamble categories??

I am so disappointed, I am actually disgusted. Number one, SAFTAS should extend the nominees to five, SERIOUSLY!! I was about to comment on Manaka Ranaka(Lucy), but I just remembered that Generations did not submit their entries. Let's start with Scandal, Hlomla Dandala!! Come on guys. Isidingo Linda Sokhulu Nikiwe did the most last year with her character. Isidingo also has one of the BEST storylines. Need I start on Uzalo?? MaNgcobo and MaNzuza are being played so BRILLIANT by Thandeka and Leleti. Israel Makwe, Zola Nombola and Mbulelo Grootboom did a stellar job on Z'BONDIWE. Now let's go to the irritating part, FERGUSON FILMS!!! SELLO MAAKE KA NCUBE, I don't need to say anything on him. I always thought that Karabo Moroka did not give Connie Ferguson range as an actress until she found Mavis on Rockville. She humbled me, then Mavis found Harriet Khoza and murdered me. Beautiful performance. Lockdown, MaZet and Tyson guys, PHENOMENAL!!! Vatiswa Ndara guys iGazi gave her the extra fire she always had. Themba Ndaba!!! Dineo Moeketsi is also doing the most. Shame, SA needs other television awards.

>>I am so disappointed, I am actually disgusted. Number one, SAFTAS should extend the nominees to five, SERIOUSLY!!<<

I agree 100%. Robbie Thorpe who was the head judge of the SAFTAs in 2016 believed this too and he pushed for it but none of the SAFTAs organisers will listen. They just do the same thing year after year as if there are no problems.

He wasn't head judge last year so I called him to find out why and all he said was,"Ask the National Film and Video Foundation," as if he was totally over the whole thing.

This is what he had to say about it in an interview:

Robbie: “If you’ve got 18 soaps entered and there are only three nominees, that’s a lot of people competing for a little piece of something whereas if there are five, you’ve spread the love, you’ve recognised more people in a very difficult category.

It's a very competitive category so a really good show could have finished fourth in every category and not appeared anywhere so it’s not getting recognised whereas it could have received five or six nominations and been recognised.

When we have the debriefing it’s something I’m going to push for, that they have five because you know, this business is so hard and people are unacknowledged and I think it's important.”
