Back/back/back!
SABC1's 2018 offering kicks off this week with the premiere of various comebacks.
As you may have seen in
TVSA's daily highlights,
Single Galz returned for Season 2 with an all-new cast on Monday (6 February) and the home renovation series
Reno Race returned to early primetime tonight (7 February).
Other SABC1 favourites return for new seasons over the next two weeks. Here's a wrap of what's coming up:
#TBT (Throwback Thursday) 2
Premiere date: Thursday, 8 February 2018 at 19h30
Skhumba Hlophe and Gabisile Tshabalala return to comment on social media stories from the week.
Stumbo Stomp 5
Premiere date: Friday, 9 February at 18h00
The dance competition show returns with a new presenter, DJ Buckz (of Uhuru fame). The season also features choreographer and dancer Mamela Nyamza as co-judge, alongside Kelly Khumalo.
Tjovitjo 2
Premiere date: Sunday, 11 February at 20h00
Season 1 ended on a tragic note with Ma’ Tjovitjo never winning a single dance competition, and Mandisa attempting abortion. The conflict between Bra Terror and Mafred has left the community of Tjovitjo in paralysis.
The dancers can hardly bear life without dance. But even worse, ordinary people can’t deal with this burden, which leads to even worse poverty in Tjovitjo.
Mojantji, the illegal mining syndicate kingpin, steps into the desperate situation, to prey on poor and desperate young men along with some of the dancers. This fuels the already rampant war by introducing a third participant in the mix when Mojantji goes after both Mafred and Bra Terror.
Finally when the war comes to an end, it’s time to find healing and redemption. Winning the first biggest competition after the war will help with the healing. But will Ma’ Tjovitjo win this time around?
Mi Kasi Su Kasi 2
Premiere date: Thursday, 15 February at 18h00
The Kasi documentary series returns with two new presenters: Sthembiso “Sprkz” Dliwayo and Kamo Letsosa.
Ingozi
Premiere date: Sunday, 18 February at 19h30
Ingozi returns with a notable cast change: Lunga Radebe (Skeem Saam) replaces Jet Novuka in the role of Mongezi Ndamase.
Season 2 picks up from where the previous one ended when a disastrous and fatal accident shook and caused cracks in the community.
The Ndamases are grappling with the new reality that their son is serving time in jail for capable homicide. He is very remorseful and tries to reach out to the victims for forgiveness - his parents’ marriage might not survive this tragedy.
The Hlatshwayos are still mourning their father, and the two brothers end up fighting over who will take over their father’s business. The Mazibukos are finding it difficult for their now paralysed daughter and how her life has changed now that she’s on a wheelchair.
They also fall prey to a crook posing as a lawyer assisting them to claim from the RAF.
Season 2 is about picking the pieces.
