Mzansi Magic debuts a new 20h00 drama this Sunday (8 July) in the wake of Abomama's finale, which aired last night (1 July).
This is what we can expect from The
Queen Throne Herd:
1. It's a supernatural drama, produced by
Seriti Films (their first TV show).
2. It stars Sello Maake Ka-Ncube as Bhekisizwe Mthethwa and Winnie Ntshaba as MaMngadi, a couple who've been woven together by Bheki's desperation and pursuit of material wealth and MaMngadi's supernatural powers.
Twenty-eight years ago, Bheki was fired from his job at a butchery after an injury to his leg. With no job and a hungry wife and baby, Bheki turned to the local witch, MaMngadi, who promised him a bright future if he was willing to make a great sacrifice.
3.
Fast forward 28 years >> MaMngadi has Bheki where she wants him. They're married with three children: Muzi (played by Zenzelisphesihle "Sparky" Xulu), Nkosana (Paballo Mavundla) and Dumazile (Cindy Mahlangu).
Bheki’s big sacrifice still weighs heavily on his soul and when he chooses the successor to his cattle business, the siblings descend into rivalry as they go into battle over what each believes to be rightfully theirs.
4. Others in the cast include former Uzalo star Sihle Ndaba as Bheki’s golden child Kayise, Zethu Dlomo as the tough and gifted gunslinger Lwandle, Tiisetso Thoka as the Mthethwa’s leading herdsman Dingane and Peter Mashigo as the troubled alcoholic Magubane.
5. These are the questions at the centre of the story: How many sacrifices does it take to hold on to what we treasure the most? How far will someone go to to obtain their heart's desires? Can true love overcome supernatural powers?
