It's been 28 years since it first debuted and now Noot vir Noot has been reimagined for its upcoming 44th season.

TVSA member SliqNick spilt the news that Emo Adams would be taking over from Johan Stemmet three months before the news was officially announced and the time has arrived for Emo to do his thang.

The season premieres on SABC2 on Thursday, 15 August at 19h00, under the creative directorship of Carl Stemmet, Johan's actor/presenter/director son.

TVSA caught up with Carl this week and he tells us that Johan is still involved with the production, as executive producer and technical director.

What stays the same

The games and gameplay. Contestants will still compete by putting their music knowledge to the test as they try to answer musical questions and clues as quickly as possible. The show's signature games also remain the same e.g. Stop die Klok, Noot Assosiasie and Laslappie.

Each episode will feature a different guest muso again. The season's line-up includes Jo Black, Nádine, Kurt Darren, Refentse, Snotkop, Monique Steyn, Liezel Pieters, Dewald Wasserfall, Jak De Priester, Corlea Botha and Nicholis Louw.

What's new

Emo obvs. And his musical accompaniment DJ Shelly, real name: Rochelle de Bruyn aka the new Johan van Rensburg and Die Musiekfabriek.

This is where the show turns up the technology because DJ Shelly uses DJ decks and an electronic keyboard to create the musical cues for the contestants.

The on-screen visuals are also technofied, with a set re-design that includes lighting effects, LED screens and 3D graphic representations of the games.

The studio audience has been moved in closer to the stage and the stage is larger.

In a nutshell: the show's electricity bill will be higher.

Will you be using yours to tune in?
