And the actress who'll be playing Nontle Majola on Generations: The Legacy is... Buntu Petse.
As scooped by TVSA member
qavile who revealed the news in the Gen teasers
here. Go qavile!
This is Buntu's first acting role on TV but not her first TV stint.
As spilt by qavile, Buntu gained her TV experience as a presenter on the SABC1 science and tech show Teenagers on a Mission (TOMZ).
She's 22-years-old and she's in her final year at Wits, completing her Honours Degree in Dramatic Arts so a role on Gen couldn't have come at a better time for her.
She debuts in December when Nontle arrives from Cape Town to visit her mother Ayanda (Samela Tyelbooi) for the holz.
And she doesn't like what she finds.
Gen publicist Nandipha Pantsi shared her character details with TVSA, giving us the lowdown on Nontle's life and personality.
She's Ayanda's 16-year-old, only child who never knew her dad.
Ayanda's hurt her in this regard because she's always told her that her father didn't want her and she's been unwilling to answer Nontle's questions about him.
Together they moved around a lot for Ayanda's job until Ayanda moved to Joziburg. Nonhle chose to stay in Cape Town, in boarding school, to have a sense of stability, and Ayanda promised she would visit her for the upcoming December holidays.
But she doesn't pitch up.
This is what brings Nontle to Joziburg where she finds Ayanda shacked up with Tau (Rapulana Seiphemo), which angers her a lot. She feels Ayanda's created a whole new life for herself which excludes her.
Personality-wise, she's very different from Ayanda and doesn't have the same poised sense of perfection that Ayanda has.
She's more of a rebel and sees herself as a feminist, attending rallies, refusing to bow down to the way society wants her to be.
She's smart, independent and likes to provoke.
Which makes her a thorn in Ayanda's side because Ayanda doesn't understand her, or why she's so angry.
What Ayanda doesn't realise is that Nontle's toughness is a front that covers up her vulnerability and insecurity. Nontle uses it to show the world and her mother that they can't hurt her and she constantly tests Ayanda's love for her.
See how her story unfolds when she arrives on Monday, 2 December 2019.
