Soapie lovers... it pains us to tell you but Mzansi Magic and 1Magic's headliners have been hard-hit by the impact of Lockdown.
All four of their first run soapies are going off-air because they don't have new available episodes as a result of production shutdowns - and not just from May but two from next week already.
Isibaya and Gomora air their last available episode this Friday (24 April) and won't be going into repeats mode.
On Monday (27th) a double bill of The River 1 replaces Gomora at 19h30, meaning The River will air from 19h00 to 20h00 on weekdays.
Isibaya's going to be replaced by a broadcast of Somizi & Mohale's wedding The Union, which aired "exclusively" on Showmax. Episodes will be an hour, starting at 20h00 and occupying Isibaya's 20h30 timelot from Monday (27 April) to Thursday (30 April).
There's no word on what's happening the week after that or with Lockdown 5 on Mondays - we'll let you know once there is.
The Queen has available episodes until Friday, 8 May and then the channel switches its 20h00 shows into the 21h00 timeslot, namely:
- Utatakho 8 (Tuesdays)
- Madam & Mercy (Wednesdays)
- Papa Penny Ahee 4 (Thursdays)
- Seng’khathele 2 (Fridays).
These have completed filming so they have full seasons.
On 1Magic The River 3 also has episodes until 8 May and then hands over to a repeat of the drama series Is'thunzi.
Our Perfect Wedding and Date My Family are also in Lockdown with no kissing allowed so they're doing an SABC with a themed re-run: compilations of the best weddings and dates.
From Saturday, 2 May Mzansi Magic starts a comedy slot - obviously to try to help us keep our sense of humour. It features local comedians who have the challenging task of needing to be so funny they must help us feel we're drunk!
No times have been confirmed for this yet.
Those are the overall changes to expect as we battle our way through the insanity of this pandemic.
