No jokes: the comedy categories are gone. Why?

This from Makhosazana Khanyile, the CEO of the National Film and Video:

“The TV Comedy nominees category was not announced at the SAFTAs 14 Nominees Announcement Launch due to the number of applications received.

The category received less than three entries and at the Judges discretion, the judging process was unable to proceed to the judging phase which resulted in there being no nominees for the comedy category.”

The Queen (Ferguson Films) (15)

Uzalo (Stained Glass Productions) (16)

Notice how Ferguson Films and Word of Mouth Pictures have ended their boycott of the awards by entering The Queen and Muvhango for the first time in years.

They've been in talks with the SAFTAs organisers (the National Film and Video Foundation) who've promised them they'll try to do better this year when it comes to the credibility of the SAFTAs voting process that caused them to boycott.

Clearly no-one managed to convince Danie Odendaal Productions and Morula Pictures because 7de Laan and Generations: The Legacy are still boycotting and Skeem Saam (PEU Communications) and Isidingo (Pomegranate Media) are noticeably missing after having entered last year's awards

qavile
30 Apr 2020 07:03

RhythmCity deserves it for me but i think suidooster is the best TV soapie. Also wish Tenda from muvhango could've won Anyway congrats to all the winners

Nhetz
30 Apr 2020 13:36

Yes we know that the river is good in acting, script but seriously on the other awards like wardrobe, make-up and hair, sound I beg to differ coz Scandal and The Queen for me are the best in those particular categories

qavile
30 Apr 2020 19:31

Also Yv doesn't even deserve that award to be honest. Her character did nothing.. #NB im not saying she can't act but boniswa(asanda) made scandal but wasn't even nominated.. im so so so happy my favorite villain(mthunzi) won #Happy

Goku
30 Apr 2020 21:11

@Qavile that's why she was nominated & won the best "supporting" actress.

qavile
01 May 2020 12:15

@Goku im confused a bit with the fact that YV is a supporting actress on Scandal who is/are the leads ?

Goku
01 May 2020 21:11

I would say Mthunzi,Romeo and Boniswa. I will not count Thembeka coz she just came back. YV was a main character but ever since she won a Safta last year she hasn't headline any storyline
