Since we posted the
Moja Love open Casting Call in May we've received loads of queries about what's happening with it.
Unlike all other castings, it wasn't for a specific show or project. The only information provided is that the channel is looking for actors.
Many of you have reached out to us, saying that you haven't had any feedback from the channel about what's going on, so we've asked what's happening and whether there will be a shortlist.
We asked Lindiwe Mbonambi, Moja Love's head of marketing and PR, who tells us:
The campaign is still ongoing, an end date has not yet been finalised. There is a team going through the entries.
People will be contacted individually should they meet the criteria for a show.
In other words: If you auditioned, don't hold your breath, it could be years before you hear from us!
We hope many of you do hear from them, but if not, don't let it get you down, castings don't usually happen this way.
The majority of castings are for a specific project with a cut-off date so you know one way or the other e.g.
the recent Black Brain Pictures casting, which was a lot more transparent.
Moja Love also do castings for specific shows so this is different from their other auditions and it's turned out to be too vague and uncommitted to auditionees.
It reveals that it's best to cast for a definite project with a closing date to ensure everyone feels seen and knows what's happening with the parameters of the process.
