2021 Golden Globes: all the nominees

The nominees for this year's Golden Globes have just been announced, for the 78th time.

And surprise-surprise (NOT) Netflix leads the list in both the TV and film categories, with 42 potential wins for their stay-at-home offerings.

The Crown has nominations all over the place and rightly so because we believed every frame of the ominous, twisted tale that emerged in the latest season.

A very different perspective on the Royals from previous seasons and much more as we've always imagined them to be.

On the acting front, the late Chadwick Boseman has been posthumously nominated for his role as Levee Green in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (also on Netflix) and Olivia Colman earned herself nominations in both film and TV, proving you don't need plastic surgery to act.

But the opposite! It's the reason we don't want Nicole Kidman to win for The Undoing. She's excellent, yes, but her skin is now so smooth and taut it kept freaking us out of her character.

As for the biggest surprise shocker on the list... we can't believe Brendan Gleeson was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama for The Comey Rule. BAD.

The series was brilliant but only because he had so few scenes. His portrayal of Trump's mouth mannerisms was so overdone it was much too distracting.

Someone else better win that one for the credibility of the awards.

These are all the nominees:

What's your biggest shock of the list?

I think Nicole Kidman is one of those actors that have the Hollywood Luck.  Yes shes great but her brilliance is a tad overhyped.  Or maybe I have not been exposed that much to her work because in most roles I have seen her in shes cast in the same type of character: a wounded, tortured, princess in the castle character with the same emotions on display and this does not demonstrate much range.  Think: The Hours, The Others, Big Little Lies, Cold Mountain, The Undoing, Rabbit Hole, I must say Top of the Lake was a nice change.  Or maybe I have not seen a lot of her work. And I admit she has mastered the potrayal of the beautiful tortured character.

I hope Cate Blanchett will take the award in that category, she is brilliant in Mrs America.

It's actually shameful how I may destroy you and Lovecraft country were snubbed in so many categories, given how innovative those shows are.but it's awards season, they are hardly fair

That's it Thabang - they're always twilight zones that lack fairness, logic and real integrity, especially and the Golden Globes.

They plunged to the bottom of the list back in 2016 already when Lady Kaka won for that pile of poo season of American Horror Story - it was all about image and how it made the awards look instead of the truth of who deserved the award.

My biggest gripe is the snub of P-Valley - was my best show of the year. Insane that it hasn't received ONE nomination. Brandee Evans as Mercedes and Nicco Annan as Uncle Clifford have been robbed!

And I admit she has mastered the potrayal of the beautiful tortured character.

True Timone and now I'm wondering how long it will last because she can only be believably tortured without a single line or wrinkle on her face for so long. If she's expressionless in 10 years time it ain't gonna work.

Forget the shade Tashi has thrown the whole Baobab tree at Nicole angel but truth be told I was more impressed by the support actresses in Undoing than her, namely Lily Rabe and Noma Dumezweni.
I'm surprised Sarah Paulson was not nominated for the support role in Mrs America, shes another awards favourite, deservingly so though

I was convinced Lily was the killer throughout! Possessed by Sister Mary Eunice from American Horror Story.
