American Detective with Lt. Joe Kenda
Channel: Investigation Discovery (DStv 171 / StarSat 223)
TX Time: 21h00
Genre: True Crime, Documentary Series
Lt. Joe Kenda, one of the toughest, most experienced homicide detectives, is back with an all-new series.
Over the years, Kenda has heard about cases that defy logic and expose the depravity of human nature: investigations so confounding that the twists and turns feel more scripted in Hollywood than reality.
In American Detective, Kenda trades in his own case files to bring you astounding investigations from across the US, with each episode putting a different homicide detective at the forefront whose tireless efforts helped put a killer behind bars and bring justice for the victim.
Kenda guides us through the nuances of each case and the dogged detective work featured in American Detective.
In the series premiere: Vermont police discover a vehicle abandoned along the side of a dark country road.
The owner is a beloved young schoolteacher, and her two-year-old son sits asleep still strapped into his car seat.
Captain Robert Cushing is called upon to lead the investigation, and his men soon discover the victim's body concealed in the icy waters of a nearby lake.
The sleepy town of Waterford, Vermont is shaken to its core, and even a veteran investigator like Cushing is unprepared for the depravity of the killer's plan.
Additional cases featured in the season include a young realtor whose body was found at the bottom of a Miami high-rise, where clues lead the investigation to a second victim.
There's also a young woman who was murdered next to an infamous homeless encampment in Seattle, where the lead detective notices a clue they've seen before which creates a city-wide hunt for a depraved serial killer.
Also, a 16-year-old girl was found floating and bound in metal chains three miles off the Jersey shore and an elderly couple are viciously attacked in their Phoenix home.

Kenan
Channel: Vuzu (DStv 116)
TX Time: 18h30
Genre: Comedy
This single-camera comedy follows a widowed dad, Kenan (Kenan Thompson), who's juggling a high-profile job as the host of an Atlanta morning show and raising his two girls.
As Kenan tries to move on, his father-in-law (Don Johnson), brother and co-workers all have strong opinions on the best way to live his life.
The show centres on the familial relationships as Kenan tries to reclaim his life after his wife's death.
Kenan's daughters are his world – the too smart Aubrey and the silly, unpredictable Birdie.
He struggles to balance parenting them as a single dad and hosting his show, which leads him to reluctantly accept help from his father-in-law, Rick.
Rick was a gallivanting sax player when his daughter, Cori, was young and missed out on a lot of her childhood, so he is aiming to make that up with his granddaughters, although his old-school parenting style does not often match up to Kenan's.
At work, Kenan excels at his job with the help of his driven executive producer, Mika.
Mika can be tightly wound, especially when Gary, as Kenan's not-so-managerial manager, tries to insert himself, but Mika remains a confidante and ally to Kenan.
They are able to be vulnerable with one another and connect as friends... and maybe something more.
In the series premiere, "Pilot": Kenan thinks he's adjusted to life as a busy, single parent but after everyone confronts him about denying his grief, he realises it's time to make some changes.
Gary thinks it's time for Rick to move out of the house.
