1st South African Amapiano Music Awards

The Amapiano genre has transformed the South African musical landscape through a genre that has captured a new voice amongst the South African youth.

The genre has received notable nods from many prominent international figures including Diddy, Swizz Beats and Virgil Abloh, among others.

The 1st South African Amapiano Music Awards took place on 23 October 2021.

The Amapiano stars were honoured at a ceremony featuring celebrity guests such as Ntando Duma, Jessica Nkosi, Vuyo Dabula, DJ Tira, Zenokuhle Maseko, Samora Mangesi, Zodwa Wabantu, Kuhle Adams, Patrick Seleka and Tumi Morake.

Performers include Sir Trill, Nobantu Vilakazi, Boohle, Nhlanhla Nciza, Pabi Cooper, Reece Madlisa & Zuma, Mr Jazziq, Busta 929, Bontle Smith, DJ Melzi and Lady Du.

The awards were hosted by Robot Boii, Moshe Ndiki and Zola Ayabulela Mhlongo, with Zanele Potelwa taking the reins as the official red carpet host.
