How To Ruin Christmas 2: The Funeral
Channel: Netflix South Africa
TX Time: 10h00 (all episodes)
Genre: Comedy-Drama
Season 1 was set in the surroundings of Johannesburg, at the Four Seasons Hotel, Westcliff and surrounds for the wedding of the season, but nothing went according to plan.
This time around, the families are looking forward to a quiet Christmas.
However, family rebel and black sheep Tumi Sello's plans get ruined, and so does Christmas, when a death affecting the Sello and Twala families sees her guilt-tripped into helping with the planning of a Christmas funeral.
When the funeral planning goes pear-shaped, all judgmental eyes fall on Tumi, and once again she has to spend the next couple of days trying to clear hers and the Sello name by saving a Christmas funeral from absolute disaster.
This season holds a lot of festive firsts for the blended family.
These include Beauty and Sbu's first wedding anniversary; Lydia and Themba's first Christmas as parents; and the family's first Christmas without their beloved matriarch, Gogo Twala, who unfortunately passes away after a fun-filled day under the not-so-watchful eye of Tumi Sello.
We follow the bereaved family to KwaZulu-Natal as they quickly band together on Christmas Day to plan the burial of Gogo Twala, which comes with its own set of challenges as the chief mourners descend into town to ensure a smooth service and After Tears reception.
We find out more about the vivacious Gogo Twala, who, of course, has her own secrets (did we expect anything less?) and dive deeper into the inner workings of the couples and families as the story unfolds.
New characters this season include:
Aunt Prudence
played by Thembi Nyandeni
The strict traditionalist aunt. She is a bully who always thinks she is right, even when she isn't.
She is very judgemental and is not afraid to voice her opinions.
She treats Valencia like a Makoti that needs to respect her and everything that she says.
Bab'Mkhize
played by Owen Sejake
Gogo Twala's lover, Bab'Mkhize is a reformed gangster who owns a small strip-club-cum-tavern in the Durban CBD.
He is notoriously known in the area and there are many stories about what he has done to people - but none of them verified.
He loves speaking English and in riddles that often confuse people.
Knowing Gog'Twala the best, he is also not afraid to enforce her wishes upon the Twala family.
Lulu
played by Tsumi Nkosi
Khaya's daughter Lulu, as she is affectionately known, is a smart 13-year-old who is going on 21.
She is self-sufficient and witty and gives as much as Tumi gives. She is bubbly and vibrant and loves to talk back.
Lulu is just as bummed as Tumi is about Khaya's 'super dad' act. She feels like he treats her as if she is seven and not thirteen and that's why she likes Tumi.
Tumi is real and she admires that.
